DJA Product History
Door Jamb Armor is a product born out of necessity. We actually started out as a real estate investment company with properties located in areas that were "in transition". To make a long story short, our properties kept getting broken into and it was costing us a fortune in stolen materials, not to mention new doors.

We tried many of the solutions available on the market today. Longer dead bolts, upgraded locks, door shield guards, stronger strike plates, wedge systems etc. but nothing solved our problem.

Having exhausted our available options, we began to consider new alternatives to solve the problem. What we wanted was simple. We wanted something that would help stop people from kicking our doors in that would be easy to install. After a lot of trial and error, the solution to the problem came in stages.

First, we created the Jamb Shield, based on the theory that wrapping the jamb in steel (instead of using a thick slab) would allow us to strengthen the jamb, while not requiring us to alter the jamb or take the door off.

Some friendly folks in the neighborhood provided the first test of the piece on the first night after we installed it. The next morning we found that the Jamb shield held up great but our "friends" still managed to get into the house because they kicked the hinges off of the door.

Based on this result, we developed the Hinge Shield, which was designed to wrap around the doorjamb in the same fashion as the Jamb Shield. We cut a 4 ½” space into piece to allow it to fit easily over a standard size hinge without removing the door.

With the development of the Hinge Shield, we had succeeded in our goal of securing the door by protecting the doorjamb. However, upon further testing, we found that repeated kicking would cause the deadbolt to split the door.

We then created the Door Shield, which looks similar to other door protectors available on the market but is made of the same medium gauge steel as the other Door Jamb Armor components and comes powder coated, to either match your lock hardware or white, so you can paint it to match your door.

After creating the Door Shield we put the system through a great deal of both real world testing (leaving the units on our properties) and controlled testing (where we would have numerous people take turns kicking a door and then evaluate any damage). The results of our tests have been the same, regardless of the setting. We have yet to have any of our units fail. We have beaten up a lot of doors and even broken some deadbolts but our system has always remained in tact.

We do not claim that Door Jamb Armor will prevent a determined criminal access for an indefinite period of time. Our hope is that this system offers such resistance to an intruder that they will simply move on to easier opportunities leaving you, your family and your possessions in place and safe.

Door Jamb Armor was developed to protect our investment. It is now available to help you protect your property and your loved ones.

We wish you peace and safety,
